Tyler Vincent Knowles was only thirty years old at the time of his death. In life, he talked about wanting to be known as a “Good Soul.” He defined a good soul as “a person who is reliable, caring, compassionate, other-centered, forgiving (to self and others).” Tyler lived those personal attributes throughout his young life, and he earned the label. The goal of this Foundation is to draw inspiration from Tyler’s personal aspirations for a fulfilling life and help other young people achieve their own vision and mission.
Our Mission
To promote youth health and safety by making grants to private operating foundations and public charities that help young people survive, grow, and develop, including youth athletics, injury prevention, addiction recovery, resiliency in school, community, and peer relationships.
The Knowles Family
The Knowles family is united in the work of the Tyler Vincent Knowles Foundation (TVKF), using their son’s life experiences and philosophy as the guiding touchstone for the Foundation’s charitable donations, aiming to achieve the greatest impact in the lives of young people facing the challenges of growing and developing into healthy adults.

The Knowles Family lived, loved, and grew in Brooklyn, New York, for twenty-five years. New York City and Long Island were the sources of family and friends fun, as well as, personal achievements (academic, professional, and youth athletics). These places also posed personal challenges to family health, well-being, and development. The Family’s sphere expanded as the only son moved to Florida and finally to Riverside, California, for work and to build a full adult life. Those dots on the map represent the Foundation’s local starting point for grants with impact, but by no means are they limited to the communities that shaped the Family’s life together.
